What's New

When Cope's Newsstand in downtown Sylva closed for business, the Cope family decided to donate their inventory of books to the Friends of the Library Used Book Store. On Wednesday, December 28, Don Selzer, Tom Kapp and Lloyd Screven met the family at the newsstand to load and move between 500 - 700 books to the bookstore. The Friends of the Library appreciate this generous donation. All profits from sales at the bookstore benefit the Jackson County Public Library. Shown at the newstand are Don Selzer, Tanya Calhoun (Cope family), Tom Kapp (background) and Cindy Thompson

June T. Smith, President of the Friends of the Jackson County Public Library, (left) presents a $10,000 check for the Endowment Fund to Dottie Brunette, Jackson County Librarian.

A special keepsake ornament commemorating the new library is available at the bookstore, the Chamber of Commerce and at the new library. The three-dimensional ornament is made of gold plated brass and is fitted with a hanger. It is $10 including tax and all profits from the sale of the ornament will benefit the library.
